About The Author Of The Book 'A Few Sikh Doctrines Reconsidered'
Born on 15 May, 1942 in Gurdaspur district of Punjab, Dr. Jodh Singh graduated from Punjab University, Chandigarh, Having joined Railways he happened to go to Varanasi where he made full use of the three universities in the city and obtained Master's degrees in English, Hindi and Philosophy department of the Banaras Hindu University in 1977 from where he first earned his Ph.D in Sikh Philosophy and Religion and later up to the year 1983 taught Sikhism and Indian Philosophy to post-graduate classes. On March 24, 1983 he joined Religious Studies Department (Encyclopadia Unit) as a Reader and in the meanwhile produced the works like translation of complete Dasam Granth into Hindi (in4 Vols) and Varan Bhai Gurdas also in Hindi. Being the works of interdisciplinary worth, these works have been applauded by the scholars in the field. Apart from these, many research papers on Sikhism, in English and Punjabi have been contributed by Dr. Jodh Singh to journals of Universities and other institutions. Honoured as the Shiromani Sahitkar of the Year 1987 by Bhai Mohan Singh Vaid Sahit Kendra Amritsar, Dr. Jodh Singh, at present, is working on the Encyclopedia of Sikhism with Punjbi University, Patiala
