Foreword To Book 'Essence of Sikhism' By Raghbir Singh Dhillon
S. Raghbir Singh Dhillon has brought under the caption 'Essence of Sikhism which even many Sikhs do not know' a number of very well written essays dealing with Sikh Gurus' mystical thoughts along with some contemporary institutional and other concerns of the Sikh Panth.
S. Dhillon's source of inspiration for writting on spiritual themes has been attributed by him to the Sikh Gurus Revealed Bani and the writings of the great Sikh and Hindu mystics like Bhai Vir Singh, Bhai Randhir Singh, Prof. Puran Singh, Swami Ram Tirath and Swami Vivekanand.
Essence of every religion is in its spirituality which in turn is based on the mystical revelations and teachings of its prophets. Sikh Gurus' mystical thought is very esoteric and beyond human grasp because of its divine inspiration and dispensation. That is why Gurbani says that:-
1) They along sing Your praises who imbued with the Nectar of your Essence receive Your grace
2) Persons blessed with good thoughts and actions always sing. His praise
3) Fortune are those people who enjoy Guru's grace for their blissful lives
S. Dhillon is such a great and fortunate devotee, blessed by Waheguru's Nadr-Grace. It is because of His grace that he has imbibed the essence of Sikhism which is being reflected in his essays dealing with spiritual, institutional and theological issues.
As an active member of the Institute of Sikh Studies, Chandigarh, S. Dhillon has taken keen interest in the contemporary existential concerns of the Sikh Panth. He invariably raises important questions for wider discussions on such issues and concerns as is evident from the number of essays on this theme in his this collection.
